Editor Linda Simpson here... For the past seven or so years, it's been my privilege to be a judge at the Miss LEZ Pageant (formerly the Miss LES Pageant, as in Lower East Side). Last night's event, at the Zipper Factory theater, was one of the most riotous of them all, with an insane hodgepodge of queercore, boi, shim, intersex, F to F, trans and who-knows-what contestants. Serving as producer and host was joke-a-minute Mr. Murray Hill (pictured last night with the Pontani Sisters burlesque troupe).

Talk about stiff competition! All the contestants were fabulously individualistic.
Clockwise from left: Miss Wildcard (with designer Garo Sparo, who provided her stunning outfits); Miss Choice Cunts; Miss Snapshot (a.k.a. Trina Rose, who won Miss Congeniality); Miss I Love Brooklyn; Miss Victoria (with writer Sharyn Jackson); and Miss Hugz.

My distinguised fellow judges and I watched the proceedings from our exclusive VIP balcony (perched on battered folding chairs).
Clockwise from left: Chef Josie of the Bravo reality TV-show Top Chef; nightlife celeb The World Famous *BOB*; Liz Dahmen of the wacky womyn singing group the Lesbian Overtones; gossip columnist Michael Musto; Grace Moon, who edits OurChart.com; and Julie Goldman of LOGO's Big Gay Sketch Show.

Two previous winners were in the house: last year's title-holder Elena Azzoni and 2006 champ Glenn Marla.

Assisting Murray Hill were Lil Miss Lixx and Harley.

Also on hand were artist and filmmaker Michelle Handelman; international singing sensation Sia; LOGO executive programmer Marc Leonard; John Polly, who edits the network's NewNowNext blog; and Lee Waters.

As the votes were being tallied, colorful JZ Bich and N of Hyper Gender Burlesque dazzled the crowd with their go-go antics.

Darn that we didn't get any good pics of the drag-king performance group Switch N' Play, who provided the night's opening number. They are dreamboats!
And the winner of this year's Miss LEZ Pageant is... Miss Wildcard!

Hey, cheer up, honey—you won!

Miss Wildcard is also known as Sequinette, and we gotta hand it to her—she turned it out! Her talent number—a Marie Antoinette–chicken costume–guillotine extravaganza—was nuts!
All hail the new Miss LEZ! May her reign be filled with glamour and joy...
